Did you know that there is a stem center that is providing K-12 robotics programs to our local community? The Lockwood Stem Center, part of the Hemlock school district, recently opened their doors and have already accomplished so much. We are a big fan of everything they are doing at the Lockwood Stem Center and are very excited to see first-hand what great things these local students can and will continue to do. Find out more about what they're doing in their latest update and find how to help support their growth below.
February Update
Wow! Have you seen what all of us have accomplished in just one year? Our new STEAM building is complete and currently the home for Hemlock's Gray Matter high school team. The amount of support from all of you made this state-of-the-art building a reality. It is simply beautiful! Hemlock's Robotics program continues to grow, learn, and expand. We currently have a K-12 robotics program with over 30 registered adult mentors and 100 student team members. Because of COVID restrictions, we are not able to have anyone other than our students and mentors in the building, however we can't wait to share this with you.
The FRC robotics season is in motion. We have more students than ever programming and wiring. The desire to learn is amazing and exciting. Students are learning to program, wire, build, and prepare for the Chairman's Award. We will not be competing as we normally have, but FIRST has done a great job of making the "game" interesting and challenging. We will design a game, we will program the robot to complete a task, we will submit videos to demonstrate our skills. I know there have been challenges you have faced this past year and hope you continue to be strong and successful. Without your help, our program would not flourish. If possible, please consider helping to fund our robotics program.
